Module 1 – The Light Within: Immersion into the Full Practice and lifestyle of yoga.
Essential Practices:
• Lifestyle: Expanding the practice to ‘living yoga’
• Asana: The physical seat of awareness we call postures
• Pranayama: Harnessing the power of breath and space
• Meditation: Dissolve the lines between mind and matter
• Kriya: Yogic cleansing techniques for health and longevity
• Mantra: The sacred sound current
Essential Topics:
• Yoga Sutras of Patanjali: One of the original guide books for the practice of yoga.
• Bhagavad Gita: A classic Indian text on the path of service and duty.
• Tao Te Ching: Wisdom guidance.
This module is a full immersion into the practice: Heres what to expect each weekend:
Friday: Mantra, pranayama, meditation, yin and sound healing.
Saturday/Sunday: Strong Vinyasa practice and posture workshops, Kriya, subtle body practices and Philosophy lectures.
Required readings:
• The Path of Yoga by Georg Feuerstein.
• Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, translation by Chip Hartranft.
• The Bhagavad Gita translation by Eknath Easwaran.
• Tao Te Ching any translation.
Optional reading:
• The Upanishads translated by Eknath Easwaran.
• Prana and Pranayama by Swami Nirinjanananda Saraswati
• Kundalini Tantra by Swami Satyananda Saraswati
Module 2 – Space Within: Anatomy, fascial structure and subtle energy.
Essential Topics:
• Yoga & Anatomy: Comprehensive understanding of the body and movement. Focus on alignment, safety and space.
• Subtle Energy Body: Chakras, Nadis and energy fields.
Special Topics:
• Quantum Physics and its relationship to perception, mind and matter
• Connective tissue: Structure, form and role in the body and emotions
• Nada Yoga: the sacred sound current
Heres what to expect each weekend:
Friday: Special Topics and Practices.
Saturday/Sunday: Anatomy/Subtle body Lectures, understanding alignment and sequencing in the body.
Required readings:
The Key Muscles of Hatha Yoga by Ray Long- any edition (can be found at Banyen Books and City Semperviva)
Any anatomy colouring book
Optional:
• Anatomy of Movement by Blandine Calais-Germain
Module 3 – Being Bright: Taking the seat of a teacher and sharing your light.
Essential Topics:
• Practice Teaching
• Teaching skills: Effective languaging, demoing, holding space, sharing your energy, hands on adjustments, teaching to all learning types.
• Class structure: including sequencing, theming, safety, class setup etc.
• Yoga as Business: including Social media, web presence, marketing, insurance, certifications etc.
Heres what to expect each weekend:
Friday: Practice Teaching.
Saturday/Sunday: Teaching skills and class structure. Teaching exercises and practice teaching.
